Perry Township Regular Meeting

The Supervisor opened the meeting with the pledge to the flag. All board present.
P. Drake introduced herself as a candidate for Representative 85th District seat. She is in favor of jobs, small businesses, and making laws more people friendly.
Parmalee moved, second by P. Michalek to approve the agenda. Carried
Parmalee moved to approve the 4/27/10 budget hearing & 4/7/10 minutes as corrected. Carried
SSESA had 20 runs in March in the township with a total of 64 township runs this year.
Dep. Schmidt reported Perry Township had 193 incidents 84 of which were traffic stops.
Comm. Pavlica: approved SCOA ballot wording; distributed The Veteran’s Affairs meeting schedule; stated the County has backed the Mental Health refinancing for their current building. He is not seeking re-election for Co. Commissioner. He has done a great job in reporting to the township on County affairs.
S. Michalek moved, second by P. Michalek to approve the financial statement and pay the bills. Ayes: Grinnell, Hammond, P. Michalek, S. Michalek, & Parmalee
Recycling: Hammond reported a letter has been sent to Morrice & Perry City with cost figures. The next step is setting up a steering committee.
Parks & Rec.: Hammond reported there were 2 market analysis done on the 34 acre parcel. Hammond moved, second by Grinnell that a letter be drafted to M.L.T.A.I. offering to purchase land under description for $60,000 contingent on the ability to obtain grants and all other requirements needed for the deadline of August 1, 2010. Ayes: Hammond, P. Michalek, S. Michalek, Parmalee, & Grinnell
Zoning text amendments: Parmalee moved, second by Hammond to concur with the Planning Commission recommendations to the County. Carried
Magnet: Michalek moved, second by Hammond to contribute $2,000 to Magnet to assist in their efforts aimed at reducing drug trafficking & related crime in the County. Ayes: P. Michalek, S. Michalek, Parmalee, Grinnell, & Hammond
Seal coating for the parking lot tabled until next month.
Brush spraying: Areas that needed added spraying will be done this year at no cost to the township. Trees will be removed from Ruess Rd. after a letter is received from property owner stating he does not want the wood.
BS&A software: Parmalee presented a proposal from BS&A for a cemetery program ($1,345.50); Tax & Assessing ($6,300) programs (2); Quick Books upgrade ($299). Installation & setup cost is $600. P. Michalek moved, second by Hammond to approve the proposal and pay in 2 yearly payments, interest free. Ayes: S. Michalek, Parmalee, Grinnell, Hammond, & P. Michalek
There are 4 parcels in Forest Green that the County has zoned as commercial and they are in the subdivision. The County has suggested the township pay $500 to have them rezoned. Board felt there is an error at the County with the zoning and will check further.
Clerk will check into getting trees removed from Saxton’s and planted at the township hall.
There are problems at the hall with the doors and a locksmith will be contacted.
Howard, Smith, & Spalding drains were updated.
