Perry Township Regular Meeting
Present: Sidney Grinnell, Supervisor; Sandra Michalek, Clerk; Troy Parmalee, Treasurer; Susan Hammond & Peggy Michalek, Trustees

The meeting was opened at 7 pm with the pledge to the flag. All board was present.
S. Michalek moved, second by P. Michalek to approve the agenda. Carried
Parmalee moved, second by Hammond to approve the May 4th & 12th minutes. Carried
SSESA had 12 runs in Perry Twp. last month bringing the total to 66 for the year. The yearly total for all jurisdictions is 470.
Zoning: McConnell property off Church Rd.; 2 trailer permits; 1 violation; home occupation permit issued.
SEDP: Business people coming into Shiawassee Co. for the annual meeting to look for areas in the county for development.
S. Michalek moved, second by P. Michalek to approve the financial statement and pay the bills. Ayes: Grinnell, Hammond, P. Michalek, S. Michalek, Parmalee
DDA: Piggott was present to discuss the new boundaries and extension of the present DDA. He had a timeline for the expansion and a map. It was decided to table the project and have the DDA board meet with the Planning Commission. To expand the area the project needs to go before the County Commissioners & the Township Board for approval. If the area is left as it is, the Township Board could, by resolution, extend the time limit of the DDA & TIFA.
Correspondence: Fireworks coverage letter from Village of Morrice; State Police closings; Fertilizer Co. abatement renewal; workman’s comp insurance with MTA.
Due to the tornado, a large tree is twisted and laying against other trees in Roselawn Cemetery. There is also a dead tree that needs to be removed. Parmalee moved, second by Hammond to accept the bid of $2,000 ($1500 for large tree removal & $500 for dead tree removal) from Greg Weinert. Ayes: Hammond, P. Michalek, S. Michalek, Parmalee, & Grinnell.
Cemetery foundations: Parmalee moved, second by P. Michalek to approve the new rates for foundations. Ayes: P. Michalek, S. Michalek, Parmalee, Grinnell, and Hammond. The Sexton’s contract will have to be revised to raise the foundation fees for Sexton.
It was decided to take the $7,000 from a back payment and $10,000 from the Investment Fund along with money from the Cemetery fund to pay for the cemetery road paving.
Sewer rates: Parmalee presented the new sewer rates, but the attorney didn’t have the correct ordinance, so the rates were tabled. Parmalee moved, second by Hammond to consult with Kevin Feuka, c2ae Engineering, on the new rates to see how they compare with rates in other municipalities. He will also review a possible work arrangement with Morrice Village for the Miss Dig program in the township. Carried
Grinnell had pictures of tree damage to the McCrae Drain district.
